Last month, a remarkable achievement took place as a microsatellite named Emma, created by a group of women in Japan with no prior experience in space development, was successfully launched into orbit around Earth. The women, united by their shared passion for space rather than professional backgrounds in the field, dedicated approximately four years to designing and constructing Emma from scratch.
The initiative, driven by their enthusiasm and commitment, underscores a significant milestone in their journey. Ai Tonomoto, a 34-year-old member of the group, expressed their hope that their accomplishment will inspire other space enthusiasts to consider careers in the space industry. "We hope to provide a spark for space enthusiasts to join the industry," Tonomoto remarked, reflecting the group's ambition to broaden participation in space exploration.
